Anyone think the Aphex interview in the latest =URB= (the one with the Kool Keith cover) was a bit...I dunno, terrible? Not to mention, there's a suspicious resemblance between Tamara Palmer's article and my own AFX biography, written nine months ago for the All-Music Guide (http://www.allmusic.com). Compare two excerpts if you will... All-Music Guide - He was born in 1971 in Cornwall, England, and began taking apart electronics gear as a teenager. (Just do the math on the title =Selected Ambient Works 85-92= -- his first recordings were made at the age of 14.) ~ John Bush URB - From the outset, his premiere collection =Selected Ambient Works 85-92= -- do the math to find out how old he was in '85 -- boasted the promise of an exceptional recording career...[Later]...as a teenager in the English town of Cornwall... Now, from my bio, your average URB writer might be led to believe that Cornwall is a village in England, not an entire county (equivalent to an American state). I've hardly been a fan of =URB= before, but this is approaching criminal. (Not to mention the terrible expanded record reviews -- did they crib from old issues of =Muzik= or something? DJ Cam has released a whole 'nother album since =Mad Blunted Jazz!= They are better than they used to be (at least they found the space to mention Dot and Aux 88/Ectomorph/Jeff Mills/DJ T-1000) but it's still a third-rate imitation more than anything. Comments?
